Technical Requirements for Tenders – Cookies


The Tenders database is designed for use with most recent web browsers. You should have cookies enabled in order to search the Tenders database, but all web browsers have JavaScript enabled by default.

Q –  Does this site use cookies?
A –  Yes, Tenders uses session cookies to provide some of the functionality of the service. Anyone using the service must have cookies enabled in their browser. All web browsers have cookies enabled by default.

Q –  What are cookies?
A –  Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer by websites that you visit. They can hold various items of information, including information about you, your computer and your preferences.
 
Q –  How can I delete cookies?
A –  The cookies that are set by Tenders are normally deleted automatically when you close your web browser. You do not normally need to manually delete cookies. However, on rare occasions when a problem occurs it can be helpful to delete cookies. After deleting them and going back to Tenders, new cookies will be created.
Your saved searches and email alerts are not stored in cookies, and so they will not be affected by deleting cookies.
Q –  How can I unblock cookies for Tenders?
A –  You must have cookies enabled in order to use Tenders. If you have accidentally blocked cookies for Tenders, or if your organisation normally blocks all cookies, then you need to change a setting in your web browser.

Deleting cookies

Deleting cookies in Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6

The Internet Explorer 5.5 and 6 browsers allow you to locate and delete cookies from a particular website. Make sure that you are not signed in to Tenders before you start this procedure.

  1. On the Tools menu, select “Internet Options…”
  2. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the “General” tab.
  3. In the Temporary Internet files section, click the “Settings…” button (NOT the Delete Cookies… button, which deletes all cookies).
  4. In the Settings dialog box, click the “View Files…” button

  1. In the Windows Explorer window, click “Internet Address” to sort the files by website.

  1. Scroll down until you find the files that start with “http://www.tenders.co.uk”
  2. Find and delete the files for www.tenders.co.uk that start with “search.asp” or “results.asp”.
  3. Close the Windows Explorer window.
  4. Click “OK” to close the Settings dialog box.
  5. Click “OK” to close the Internet Options dialog box.

After deleting all of the www.tenders.co.uk cookies, you should be able to sign in and use Tenders as usual.

Deleting cookies in Firefox

The Firefox browser includes a cookie manager that allows you to locate and delete cookies from a particular website. Make sure that you are not signed in to Tenders before you start this procedure.

  1. On the Tools menu, select “Options…”
  2. In the Options dialog box, click the “Privacy” icon (a padlock).
  3. In the Cookies section, click the “Show Cookies” button.

  1. In the Cookies dialog box, click “Site” to sort the list of cookies by the name of their website.

Deleting cookies in Firefox

  1. Scroll down until you find the cookies for tenders.co.uk.
  2. Delete all of the cookies for tenders.co.uk, using the “Remove Cookies” button.
  3. Click “Close” to close the Cookies dialog box.
  4. Click “OK” to close the Options dialog box.

After deleting all of the www.tenders.co.uk cookies, you should be able to sign in and use Tenders as usual.

In the Mac OS X version of Firefox, you need to select Preferences… on the Firefox menu, not Options… on the Tools menu.

Deleting cookies in SeaMonkey

This browser includes a cookie manager that allows you to locate and delete cookies from a particular website. Make sure that you are not signed in to Tenders before you start this procedure.

  1. On the Edit menu, select “Preferences…”
  2. In the list of categories in the Preferences dialog box, click the triangle next to “Privacy & Security”
  3. In the list of terms that appears, select “Cookies”.
  4. Click the “Cookie Manager” button.
  5. In the Cookie Manager dialog box, click the “Stored Cookies” tab.

Deleting cookies in SeaMonkey

  1. Click “Site” to sort the list of cookies by the name of their website.
  2. Scroll down until you find the cookies for www.tenders.co.uk.
  3. Delete all of the cookies for www.tenders.co.uk, using the “Remove Cookie” button.
  4. Click “Close” to close the Cookie Manager dialog box.
  5. Click “OK” to close the Preferences dialog box.

After deleting all of the www.tenders.co.uk cookies, you should be able to sign in and use Tenders as usual.

Unblocking cookies

Unblocking cookies in Internet Explorer 7

The Internet Explorer 7 web browser allow you to block or unblock cookies for a specific website such as www.tenders.co.uk.

  1. Select the “Tools” menu.
  2. Select “Internet Options”
  3. In the Internet Options dialog box, select the “Privacy” tab.
  4. Click the “Sites” button.

  1. In the list of managed websites, select “tenders.co.uk”
  2. Click the “Remove” button.
  3. Click “OK” to close the Per Site Privacy Actions dialog box.
  4. Click “OK” to close the Internet Options dialog box.

Alternatively, if your organisation blocks all cookies by default and you need to allow cookies for Tenders:

  1. In the Address of website text box, type “tenders.co.uk”
  2. Click the “Allow” button.
  3. Click “OK” to close the Per Site Privacy Actions dialog box.
  4. Click “OK” to close the Internet Options dialog box.

  1. Select the “Edit” menu.

  3. Click the arrow to the left of Privacy & Security, so that it points downwards and reveals more options.
  4. Select “Cookies”.
  5. In the Cookies section of the Preferences dialog box, click the “Cookie Manager” button.
  6. In the Cookie Manager dialog box, click the “Cookie Sites” tab

If you have accidentally blocked cookies for Tenders:

  1. In the list of sites, select “www.tenders.co.uk”
